Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

TORQUE ALLEY MOTORS LLC does not sell personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

That statement covers everything we do: the website, the lot, the workshop, trade-in appraisals and financing referrals. There is no opt-out to exercise because there is no sale or sharing of that kind happening.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, a sale is not limited to exchanging data for money. It includes disclosing personal information to a third party for valuable consideration, and sharing includes disclosure for cross-context behavioural advertising.

The law also treats some disclosures as outside those definitions, such as giving information to a service provider that is contractually restricted to using it on our behalf.

We do not do the first kind at all. The second kind is limited to the service providers described below, under contracts that restrict their use of the information.

We use personal information to answer enquiries, quote vehicles and repairs, prepare and perform purchase, trade-in and service agreements, arrange transport, honour warranty obligations and keep the records tax and titling law requires.

We do not use it to build advertising audiences, we do not enrich it with data bought from brokers, and we do not sell it to list brokers or marketing companies.

Lenders and credit unions, when you ask for a financing referral.

Transport carriers, freight forwarders and port agents, to move a vehicle you bought.

Titling and registration agents and the state agency that issues the title.

Parts suppliers and specialist subcontractors, where a repair needs work we do not perform in house.

Our email, telephone and website hosting providers, which process data only to deliver those services.

Each of these receives the minimum needed for the task. None of them is permitted to use it for their own advertising.

Email or call us using the contact details in the panel below and say that you are a California resident making a privacy request.

You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold, to give you a copy, to correct an inaccuracy, to delete what we are not required to keep, or to limit the use of sensitive personal information such as a driver licence number or precise location data.

There is no form on this site by design. A request by email or telephone is valid, and we will confirm in writing that we received it.

We acknowledge the request, confirm what we hold and explain what we will do, normally within four business hours during shop hours and never later than the statutory period the law allows.

Where we cannot delete a record, we say why: an open title file, a warranty claim, a tax record or a pending dispute. We delete or de-identify everything else that is not needed.

The answer comes in writing so that you have a record of what we told you.

You may use an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf. We may ask for written permission signed by you, or for evidence of a power of attorney.

For a deletion request we may still contact you directly to confirm your identity, because deletion is irreversible.

We verify requests using information we already hold: typically the name, telephone number or email address associated with your transaction or enquiry.

We do not ask for a Social Security number, a bank credential or a document photograph by email to verify a privacy request. If you receive such a request claiming to come from us, treat it as fraudulent and call the number on this site.

We will not deny you a vehicle, a service, a financing referral or a trade-in appraisal because you exercised a privacy right, and we will not charge you a different price for doing so.

We cannot offer a different level of service where the difference is reasonably related to the value of the information, because we do not monetise personal information in the first place.

California law also gives you the right to know the categories of personal information we have collected and disclosed in the past twelve months, and the categories of third parties that received it. The Privacy Notice sets those categories out.

If you are a California resident and a customer of ours, you may also have rights under the California Shine the Light law regarding disclosure of personal information to third parties for direct marketing. We do not make such disclosures.

A Global Privacy Control signal is treated as a valid opt-out request under California law. Because we do not sell or share personal information, the signal does not change what happens on this site, but we honour its intent.

If you want an opt-out recorded in writing anyway, send the request by email or telephone and we will confirm it in the same way as any other privacy request.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact the California Privacy Protection Agency or the California Attorney General. We would rather hear from you first, and we will tell you what we changed.
